What Exactly is a Square Deal?

Square Deals offer great value packages.  They feature the lowest prices you'll find for the promised hotel rating.  You choose the destination, departure date, and Square Deal rating, and Apple Vacations chooses the hotel.  Apple Vacations guarantees that the hotel will be at least the rating stated in the offer.  In return for letting them choose the hotel, a significant price reduction is given.

When Do You Find Out the Where You Will Be Staying?

In most cases you will find out your hotel when you arrive at the departure airport.  In some cases you will find out the day before departure.  It all depends on which type of airline is with your package, scheduled or charter, and which airport you are leaving from.  In most cases you know before you go but only minuets before you go.  Be prepared to call someone from the departure airport with your contact information while you are on vacation.

Who Finds Square Deals Are Right For Them?

People who are looking for a price at a certain rating rather than a specific hotel usually like Square Deals.  In fact that's who they were designed for.  The trick is to be sure you will be comfortable staying at any of the appropriate rated hotels in the Square Deal category for that destination.  You need to be sure you understand what kind of hotel is offered at each different rating level.

What Are Some of the Quirks?

Square Deals are really meant for two adults traveling together and staying in one room.  Families will have a hard time finding a Square Deal.  If more than one couple wants to go, they can be booked in separate rooms and will stay at the same hotel provided they are booked at the same time and on the same reservation.   If more than one reservation is made there is no guarantee they will be at the same hotel.  Once booked you cannot add to a reservation.

Apple Vacations reserves the right to send you to a higher rated hotel than what they advertised.  In most instances this is an even better deal for you.

A Square Deal in Jamaica can include Hedonism which is a clothing optional resort.  If you are sent there you may be surprised when you walk in the front door that nobody is wearing clothes and you are expected to take yours off too!  If you get there and really want to change hotels it at times can be done but it is costly and must be done with the Apple Destination Management Representative in destination.  Expect to pay a bundle and at times may even be impossible.  Be sure of what you are doing.

You need to make sure you are not jumping to a conclusion.  Just because you found the Square Deal while looking in Cancun does not mean the deal is in Cancun and not the Riviera Maya.  Just because you want an all-inclusive does not mean the deal is all-inclusive unless it specifically says it is.  If you find a deal on the Punta Cana page and it does not specifically say Punta Cana it may actually be in La Romana.  Nothing wrong with La Romana but it is a 2 hour transfer away.

Who Should Avoid Square Deals?

People who want a specific resort at a certain destination.  People who want to join others already booked.  People who need a specific room type such as handicapped or other special accommodations.

Who Should Give Them Serious Consideration?

People looking for a good deal will love the price.  Those who have a realistic understanding of the types of resorts included in each Apple rating will probably be pleased.  The more experienced of a traveler you are the greater it is you will be pleased with Square Deal.  Just remember, almost by definition a Square Deal represents a hotel that is being over looked or under booked.
